Our people are our greatest assets. For this reason, finding, training, and retaining the best employees is critical to accomplishing our mission. Employees are subject to rigorous screening and training which include background checks, drug testing, motor vehicle reports, health physical, and extensive internal training regarding job-specific tasks and obligations.
We specialize in a host of local and long-distance transportation throughout Northern Virginia. Our services include doctor and post-op appointments, hospital discharges, physical therapy, chemotherapy, dialysis, pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation, stroke and rehabilitative services, family functions, personal errands, and more.
Our non-emergency medical transportation vehicles are ADA-compliant, are wheelchair accessible, and have state of the art securing devices to ensure safety and security. Our full size vans feature extended roofs and doors to ensure spacious comfort while seated and convenience for loading and unloading wheelchair and stretcher-bound patients.
At Protego Transport, we recognize that our staff is our greatest asset. We are committed to recruiting, training, developing, and retaining competent, reliable, and professional personnel who prioritize both safety and compassionate care.
Our driver evaluation and training programs are fully compliant with the requirements of the State of Virginia and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Every applicant must successfully complete a physical exam, background check, and drug and alcohol screenings, both pre-hire and randomly, throughout their employment.
Once hired, drivers undergo a structured training program led by senior drivers and overseen by management. This instruction typically spans 2 - 4 weeks, depending on the driver’s prior experience and demonstrated ability.
Safety remains the cornerstone of our program. All drivers must pass a behind-the-wheel road test assessing vision, memory, reaction time, physical function, and cognition. Beyond safe vehicle operation, drivers receive hands-on instruction in the use of wheelchairs, hydraulic lifts, and securing devices, as well as the proper loading, securing, and unloading of ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher patients.
Equally important is our emphasis on privacy and compliance. Drivers are thoroughly educated on HIPAA regulations, as well as facility-specific policies and procedures. To maintain the highest standards, they are also required to complete periodic re-certifications and remain subject to ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
